Fast-Tracking Academic Ideas

Virtual Health Technologies

Nondilutive Funding & Expert Mentorship in Oklahoma

WHY VIRTUAL HEALTH?

Virtual health technology is a powerful tool for reducing inefficiencies that add to the overwhelming cost burden of healthcare. We believe virtual technologies increase clinician bandwidth to improve healthcare quality for all populations.

WHAT IS CANOPY?

Canopy Healthtech is a philanthropic, multi-institutional program that accelerates the translation of intellectual property at Oklahoma universities into commercially viable virtual health technologies. Canopy connects Oklahoma clinicians and technologists with each other, as well as the local and national innovation ecosystems, to support the development of virtual health technologies that satisfy pressing clinical pain points.

Modeled from the guiding principles of the Coulter Translational Program, Canopy is exclusively focused on virtual health technologies, which we define broadly as virtual technologies that improve the quality and reduce the burden of healthcare. Any virtual technology initiative from a participating university –from staffing innovations to digital therapeutics – can participate in Canopy programs.

We collaborate with ecosystem partners across the state to inspire and support budding academic entrepreneurs. Speakers cover topics such as intellectual property disclosure, protection, and licensing; the lean startup model; payor reimbursement; and regulatory compliance.

We also offer partnership opportunities to connect clinicians with technologists.
